Obituary of Susan Mae Niemiec

Boonville- Susan Mae (Roberts) Niemiec, 67, of Kolasa Road, wife of John, passed away at her residence on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, while under the loving care of her husband, family and Hospice. Susan was born in Rome, on July 15, 1954, a daughter of Joseph and Anna Gardner Roberts. She grew up in Boonville and in Forestport, receiving her education at Forestport Central School, before graduating from Adirondack Central School, with The Class of 1972. While in high school, Susan attended the Howard G. Sackett BOCEs Center in Glenfield, where she majored in Cosmetology. After completing her education she was employed as a hairdresser in Utica beauty shops. On June 15, 1974, Susan was united in marriage with John R. Niemiec, at St. Agnes Church, Utica. Thereafter the couple lived in Utica, until 1995, when they moved to their present home near Boonville. For a time while living in Utica, Mrs. Niemiec was employed as a material fitter in the manufacture of jewelry boxes at Melee Manufacturing Company of Utica. First and foremost, Susan radiated happiness in her role of a loving wife, mother and homemaker. She greatly enjoyed cooking, baking and tending her flower gardens while raising a beautiful variety of flowers. Mrs. Niemiec was of the Catholic faith and attended St. Patrick’s Church, Forestport and St. Joseph’s Church, Boonville. Susan was predeceased by two daughters, Jennifer and Valerie, who passed away as infants. In addition to her husband John, she is survived by her children; Victoria (Daniel – her favorite son in law) Maher, Boonville; John (Tracy) Niemiec, Jr. Utica and Joseph Niemiec and his significant other, Jessica Lynch, Yorkville. Susan was a loving and devoted grandmother and great grandmother, who is survived by grandchildren; Madeline, Emily, Anna, Daniel, Zack, Zarhi, Niya, Dakota and Aimee. Great grandchildren; Logan, Everleigh, Mason and Christal. The last of her siblings Susan was predeceased by brothers; William Roberts, Joseph Roberts, Howard Roberts, Samuel Roberts; and sisters, Elizabeth Bartholomay, Edna Ingersoll and Bonnie Roberts. Also surviving is John’s family; Jane Mahar, Alfred Warjas, Patricia, and David, Edward Niemiec, Andrea, Christopher, Kristina, and family. Mathew, Lindsay, and family; Johann Roberts and family, Thomas Ingersoll, Michael Roberts, Irving Bartholomay, Robert Bartholomay, Matthew Roberts and family; Kevin Roberts, Chris Roberts and Tina Roberts and their family and David Roberts and family. Susan’s family wishes to extend a note of sincere thanks and appreciation to Serina Butler and IMCU Staff at St. Luke’s Memorial Hospital, New Hartford, for their compassionate care given to Susan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Matthew Rawson, on Saturday, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Patrick’s Church, Forestport. Interment in spring will be in St. Stanislaus and St. Casimir Cemetery, Whitesboro. Calling hours are Friday 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville.
