Utica- Scott R. Hughes, 57, a resident of Utica, passed away on Friday, June 22, 2018, at The Grand of Rome Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, while surrounded by the loving care of his family.

Scott was born in Utica, on October 9, 1960, a son of Richard Renodin and the late Barbara A. Pryce-Jones Hughes. He grew up in Utica where he attended grammar school, later moving to Barneveld, graduating from Holland Patent High School Class of 1978. While in high school, Scott excelled at playing baseball and later he was involved in Utica MUNY softball.

A machinist by trade, Scott was employed at Munson Machinery, Utica. He was the beloved husband of the late Dawn O'Connor; former husband of Donna Jean (Bendino) DeLaura. He was preceded in death by his stepfather William Hughes.

In his younger years, he enjoyed trips with his father to the Renodin Family Farm. Like his dad, he was a fan of the NY Yankees, NY Giants, and Buffalo Bills. Some of Scott’s favorite activities were boating on Hinckley Lake, golfing, hunting, fishing, riding his motorcycle and traveling to Atlantic City. Scott’s favorite places to spend time were around late night bonfires, where he melted the soles of more than one pair of shoes and with friends at Stanley’s.

Scott is survived by his father Richard Renodin (Linda); daughter Dara Austin (Christian); sons Ryan and Scott Hughes; siblings, Jeffrey, Randall (Barbara Sobel), William (Susan), Donald (Lisa) Hughes; Ricky (Crystal), David (Mary), Tina Renodin; Cheryl (Kevin) Kennedy; Dominick, Linda Aldi and Robin Masters(Tim); aunt, Nancy (Pastor Carl)Getz; and uncle Bill Pryce-Jones. Also surviving are many grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews. His family extends a special thank you to friends Tom Elmer and Jennifer Badger; also to Lisa Colasanti and the staff at The Grand of Rome for the exceptional care they provided.
