William T. 'Pistol' Ritter

Forestport- William T. Ritter, Sr., 73, of Bellingertown Road, husband of Anne, passed away on Thursday, August 27, 2015, at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, Utica. William was born in Boonville, on June 7, 1942 a son of Guy and Vera Kervin Ritter. He was raised in Forestport, where he received his education, graduating from Forestport High School. William served his country in the U.S. Army, where he was stationed in the Philippines during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged on July 12, 1970. On October 29, 1982, William was united in marriage with Anne M. Touranjoe in Alder Creek. The couple settled on the Bellingertown Road, where William had constructed a home to raise their family. For many years Mr. Ritter was employed as an iron worker with Union Local #440, Utica, where he worked throughout central and northern New York in building and bridge construction. William was of the Catholic faith and a member of St. Patrick's Church, Forestport. He was an avid hunter, and greatly enjoyed hunting the woods in and around Forestport. Surviving besides his wife Anne, are his sons: William T. Ritter, Jr. and Steven (Allison) Ritter; and their children Sadie Kaye and Kai; and his daughters: Tasha Ritter and her daughter Rory Ritter, and Ashley Ritter. Also surviving are his siblings Basil Ritter, Lawrence (Gerry) Ritter, and Gale (Pete) Scouten, several nieces and nephews and his sister-in-law, Marilyn Ritter. He was predeceased by brothers Bryan, Robert, Rick and Ronald, and his sisters Euritha M. Bagg, Jane Ritter, Joyce Pfendler, and Mary Casey. Graveside services with military honors will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at 12:00 Noon in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Forestport. There are no calling hours. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Patrick's Food Pantry, River Road, Forestport, NY.
