Alder Creek - William J. Wilcox, Sr., 62, of State Route 12 passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester after a long illness. He was born in Utica on October 19, 1947, a son of Joseph H. and Mary E. (Gosson) Wilcox, Sr. He grew up in Hinckley, then lived for many years Rochester area while employed in roof construction at Purrit Roofing & Siding Co. He retired several years ago due to illness. William returned to this area and lived on Dade's Thruway in Forestport before moving to his present home near Alder Creek. He was of the Catholic faith. William is survived by three sons, Joseph K., Sr., of Port Leyden, William J., Jr. of Boonville, and Mark of Hinckley; two daughers, Michelle Wilcox and Debra Wilcox, both of Fox Lake, WI; four grandchildren, Mark, Jr., Brad, Joseph, Jr., and Kara Wilcox; four brothers, Joseph of Prospect, Jerry and Jack, both of Hinckley, and Jim of TX; three sisters; Ann Ducharme of Holland Patent, Helen Girswold of Hinckley, and Elizabeth Shownie of Kylertown, PA. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Thursday, January 21 from 5-7 p.m. at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc., 143 Schuyler Street, Boonville, where a prayer service will conclude the visitation at 7 p.m. Interment will be private.
