William E. Biro, Sr.

Ava- William E. Biro, Sr. 71, of East Ava Road, passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2017, at St. Lukes Memorial Hospital, New Hartford, after a short illness. Bill was born in Lowville, on May 11, 1946, a son of William A. and Laura Dillenbeck Biro. He grew up at the hamlet of Penny Settlement in the Town of Lyonsdale, later moving with his family to a farm on Germanski Road (now Gleasman Road,) in the Town of Ava. He received his education at West Leyden Central School, graduating with the Class of 1964. Mr. Biro was first employed at Georgia Pacific Paper Co. Lyons Falls; later he was employed as black top plant operator at Barrett Paving, Boonville, and at a salvage company in Utica, before employment for Allwash Environmental Services, in Syracuse, retiring in 1994, due to a work related injury. Upon retirement, Mr. Biro was a head contractor at Allwash. He greatly enjoyed doing odd jobs and working at his brothers farm. For 31 years until the couple divorced, Bill was married to Florence Elaine Brooks. Bill is survived by one son, Bill Biro, Jr., Ava, a step daughter, two grandchildren; a brother and sister in law, Michael P. (Jean) Biro, Ava; a sister, Patricia Carpenter, Ava and a step sister and her husband, Linda (Alan) Marmon, Port Leyden. Services will be private at the convenience of his family and there will be no calling hours. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101. His arrangements are in care of Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. Boonville.
