William E. Rowlands Remsen- William E. Rowlands, 69, of Evans Road, affectionately known as Bill, a lifelong resident of the Remsen area and husband of Janet, passed away on Friday, September 26, 2015, at Albany Medical Center. He was born in Utica, on July 7, 1946, a son of Edward H. and Frances Casler Rowlands. Bill grew up on the Rowland Homestead Farm on the Evans Road and received his education at Remsen Central School. Thereafter for several years he was employed as a heavy equipment operator at the Town of Steuben Highway Department. Later for many years he owned and operated Rowlands Excavating Business, which he had operated with his son, Bill. On July 20, 1963, Bill was united in marriage with Janet S. Gleasman, at the First Presbyterian Church, Boonville. Bill enjoyed and loved his family, and cherished spending time with his grandchildren and watching them participate in school related sporting events. In addition to his wife, Janet, he is survived by his children, Jody (Mel) Smith, Jill (Michael) Will, and Bill (Jessica) Rowlands, all of Remsen. He was predeceased by a daughter, Julee, in 1994 and by a son Jeffrey, in 1974. Also surviving are twelve grandchildren, Craig (Amy) Smith, Keith Smith, Dawn and Amber Schrader, Devin (Erin) Will, Logan, Julee and Megan Will, Will, Jacob, Joshua and Reese Rowlands and one sister, Geraldine Coe, Remsen; a sister in law, Joan Bolich, Port Leyden, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother in law, Richard Bolich, in 2015. His Funeral will be Monday at 1:00 P.M. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, with interment to follow in Fairchild Cemetery, Remsen. Visitation hours are Monday 11- 1 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Remsen Volunteer Fire Co. P.O. box 299, Remsen, NY 13438.
