William (Bill) Kelsey, 80, of Boonville and Deltona, Fl, a native of Utica, passed away on Monday evening, July 16, 2007, while surrounded by his loved ones, at the home of his daughter, Sharon, in Deltona, Fl. He was born on April 7, 1927, a son of Irving and Elizabeth Clark Kelsey, and grew up in Utica, where he attended Utica Free Academy. During WWII, Mr. Kelsey served in the U.S. Navy, and after his honorable discharge from the Navy, he was employed as a manager at Utica Club Brewery, and a truck driver. At the age of 59, Mr. Kelsey became a Correctional Officer, graduating from the Officers Training Academy at Harriman, NY. After that he was employed at various correctional facilities in New York State, retiring from Marcy Correctional Facility in August, 1997. On October 3, 1945, William was united in marriage with Frances Dudek at St. Patrickï¿(TM)s Church, Utica. He loved to play cards, golf, fish, and greatly enjoyed wood working. In addition to his wife, Frances, of 62 years, Mr. Kelsey is survived by two sons: William Jr. and his wife Beverly, Utica, and Terry and his wife Debbie, Deltona, FL.; two daughters: Sharon Williams and husband Mark, Deltona, FL, and Vicky Davis and husband Mark, Boonville, twelve grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren; one sister: June Houle, Remsen; and a special friend, Mark Madia. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Sunday, July 29, at 4:30 P.M. at the Marcy Correctional Officers Social Hall QWL Building, on Fox Rd. in Marcy. Arrangements are in the care of the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc., Boonville.
