Ava- Wendy S. Hand, 59 of Ava, NY passed away peacefully on December 23, 2021 at her home with her loving and devoted husband, Tracy, by her side. She was born on February 8, 1962 in Penn Yan, NY, a daughter of Agnes Walrath of Newport and the late Donald Gee. Wendy attended Poland Central School and worked at Broadacres where she met the late Brian R. Broedel. The two were united in marriage and were blessed with a daughter, Kelly Anne. Wendy continued working and spent a number of years at Valley Health Services and then the Riverside Mall where she met her true love, Tracy Dale Hand. The two were united in marriage in 1995 and spent the next 26 years building a life together. Wendy loved gardening, crafting and serving the lord. She gave her time to the local youth group through Life's Hope Ministries and volunteered with Care Net Pregnancy Centers. Her last 5 years were spent creating a life and living out a dream of living off grid and enjoying life's simple pleasures. Wendy enjoyed all that nature had to offer and truly found peace in watching the birds, trees and flowers that surrounded her piece of heaven that came to be called home. Wendy is predeceased by her father Donald Gee; step-father, Harold Walrath; a step-sister Donna Uebele, a step-brother Pete Walrath, a father in law, Guy Farr, a brother in law, Tommy Hand and most recently, a nephew Troy Conrad. She is survived by her husband, Tracy Hand. Wendy also leaves behind her daughter, Kelly Foote and her husband Rob Foote of Holland Patent. Wendy cherished her 5 grandchildren, Caden; Carlee, Corinne, Colin and Colton Foote. She also leaves behind her mother Agnes Walrath and her 4 siblings; Laurie (Pat) Kriwox, Jennifer Currie, William Gee and David Gee as well as her beloved cats Handsome and Richie. Funeral services will be held on Saturday January 8th, 2022 at Lyons Falls Bible Fellowship State Rt. 12, where visitation will be from 11-12 and a service will be held at Noon. Arrangements by Trainor Funeral Home, 143 Schuyler St. Boonville. Donations may be made to Carenet Pregnancy Centers.
