Alder Creek - Wendy Lynn Ney, 43, of Beaver Trail Road, wife of Scott, passed away after a short illness, while surrounded by the loving care of her husband and family on Wednesday, January 24, 2018. Wendy was born in Westfield, NY, on June 19, 1974, a daughter of Marty and Linda Smith Whetstone. She greatly enjoyed being on the Mayville girls basketball team. Later she earned her GED. For many years Wendy was employed in patient care and in transportation for Upstate Cerebral Palsy, out of Utica. For the past several years until the present time, Mrs. Ney was employed as a private house keeper at several homes in the Kayuta Lake area. In 2011, Wendy was united in marriage with the love of her life, Scott M. Ney. In addition to her husband, Scott, she is survived by two daughters, Mikayla J. Flansburg, Alder Creek, and Rebecca L. Flansburg, Richfield, Springs; her mother and step father, Linda and Joe Lachut, Remsen; her father and step mother, Marty and Patricia Whetstone, Mayville, NY. Graveside Services will be held in the spring at a time and date to be announced in Alder Creek Cemetery. There is no public visitation. Wendy had a tender spot in her heart for animals, especially dogs, memorial contributions may be made to Stevens Swan Humane Society 5664 Horatio Street, Utica, New York 13502.
