West Leyden - Wayne C. "Pa" Beasock, 75, of State Route 26, passed away on Sunday, October 3, 2010, at Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse. He was born in Rome on January 5, 1935, a son of Kenneth J. and Blanche E. (Seifert) Beasock. Mr. Beasock grew up in the vicinity of Rome, attending school in West Leyden before graduating from Rome Free Academy. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict Era. He was honorably discharged at Quantico, VA, and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. On August 13, 1955, Wayne was united in marriage with Beverly Curtis at St. Martin's Church in Port Leyden. This was a blessed union lasting fifty-five years. The couple made their home in Taberg, where Wayne served as Chief of the fire department. They moved to their present home near West Leyden in January 1969. Mr. Beasock had a long and highly successful career as a commercial and industrial electrician. He was employed at Local 181 IBEW, Utica, where he served as President for several years, before retiring as a Journeyman Electrician with 45 years of service from Local 43 of Syracuse. At the time of his retirement in 2000, he was employed at O'Connell Electric of Victor, NY. Mr. Beasock taught residential wiring in the adult education program at Howard G. Sackett BOCES Center in Glenfield. He also taught J.A.T.C. at Local 181. Later he completed security guard training and was employed as a guard at Empire Aero in Rome. Wayne always possessed a keen interest in his community and serving others ahead of himself. Practicing his Catholic Faith was a very important aspect of his life; he was a member of St. Mary's Church, West Leyden and was a longtime member of the Parish Council. He also served as Eucharistic Minister. Several years ago he was elected to the office of Town Justice for the Town of Lewis, a position he currently held. He was a current member and past president of the Lewis County Magistrates Association, and a current member of the Oneida County Magistrates Association. From July 1978 until June 1998, Mr. Beasock served on the Adirondack Central School District Board of Education, and was president of the board for several years. He was a life member of Tun Tavern Leatherneck Marine Corps League Detachment # 961 of Boonville, where he served as post Commandant. Active at all the events of the detachment, he is the only member to ever serve twice as Commandant. Wayne also enjoyed motorcycle riding for several years. Wayne deeply loved and treasured his wife Beverly, and his children, grandchildren, and great grandchild. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Marianne Nellenback and her husband, Jim of West Leyden, Blanche Coscomb and her husband, Robert of Boonville, and Amy Grenier of West Leyden; two sons, Timothy Beasock and his wife, Jody of Clark Mills, and Mark Beasock and his wife, Sandy of Boonville; thirteen grandchildren, Jimmy and Dustin Nellenback, Emily and Zachary Coscomb, Chelsie and Abigail Grenier, Brent Beasock and his wife, Genevieve, Courtney Peck and her husband, Charles Peck, Jessica Beasock, Sarah, Christopher and Hannah Beasock, and one great-granddaughter, Emma Lynn. He was predeceased by his beloved grandson, Kody W. Beasock in 2008. Also surviving are two brothers, Kenneth U. Beasock of Gainsville, FL, and Joseph Jerome (Joan) Beasock and his wife, Joan of Vero Beach, FL; two sisters, Jeannine Foppes and her husband, Ernie of Westmoreland, and Genevieve Myers of Rome. He was also predeceased by a brother, J. Vincent Beasock. His funeral will be Monday, October 18 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, West Leyden, where Rev. Lawrence Marullo will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow at Boonville Cemetery, with military honors rendered by Tun Tavern Marine Corps Leatherneck Detachment, Charles J. Love Post American Legion, and Harland J. Hennessey Post VFW. all of Boonville. Visitation hours are Sunday 1-7 p.m. at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc., 143 Schuyler Street, Boonville, where the above-mentioned organizations will meet in a group at 6:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Tun Tavern Leatherneck Marine Corps Detachment # 961 Building Fund, c/o P.O.
