Woodgate - Wayne A. Rogers, 80, of Rogers Road, husband of Irene, passed away after a brief illness, on Sunday, December 6, 2020, at St. Luke's Memorial Hospital, New Hartford. Wayne was born in Malone, on May 20, 1940, a son of Arthur and Dorothy Gervais Rogers. On February 19, 1960, Wayne was united in marriage with Irene Eddy and in 1966, the couple settled in Woodgate, where they have since lived. For many years Mr. Rogers was employed as a snow plow operator and heavy equipment operator; first for the Town of Forestport Highway Department, before retiring after several years of employment at Oneida County Highway Department, Barneveld garage. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially for bull heads. Wayne was a very kind and generous person, who loved his family and neighbors and in that spirit, he greatly enjoyed summer mowing and winter snow blowing, not only his own lawn and driveway, but acres and acres of his neighbors lawns and driveways. Wayne greatly loved and enjoyed spending time with his wife and family; his generous nature also carried over to the realm of giving candy to children. In addition to his wife, of sixty years, Irene, Wayne is survived by two daughters and one son in law; Judith A. Rogers, Sheila (Jerry) Winters; two greatly loved and cherished grandsons, Mark Booth and Gerald Winters, all of Woodgate; two sisters and brothers in law, Venice and Ted Harwood and Dorothy and Phillip Buckley, all of Woodgate and a sister in law, Penny Rogers. He was predeceased by brothers, Robert, in 2014, Arthur in 2020 and by a sister, June M. Taylor, in 2018. Also surviving are three brothers in law and two sisters in law, William and Joyce Eddy, Kenneth and Kathy Eddy and Ray LaPorte; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends, too many to mention. A private graveside service will be in Woodgate Cemetery; there is no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 15829, Arlington, Virginia 23215, or in keeping with Wayne's love for children and concern for their best welfare to a children's related charity. His arrangements are in care of Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. Boonville.
