Wallace S. 'Wally' Flint

July 23, 1928 — January 11, 2013

Boonville - Wallace S. Flint, 84, affectionately known to many as "Wally", passed away on Friday, January 11, while under the care of his loving family and Hospice. He was born in Englewood, New Jersey on July 23, 1928, the son of Wallace S. and Lucy F. Schultheiser Flint. Wally honorably served his country during the Korean Conflict, serving with the U.S. Army in Korea. After his honorable discharge he returned to New Jersey and on July 20, 1963, he was united in marriage with Ruth M. Hoffman in Harrington Park, New Jersey. The couple moved to Hillsdale, NJ shortly thereafter, where they raised their family. Mrs. Flint passed away on Oct. 22, 2007. For many years Mr. Flint was employed by the St. Regis Paper Co. of Manhattan. Wally had a passion for poetry, and enjoyed writing both patriotic and religious poems, both of which could often be seen published in the Boonville Herald. If Wally was not watching his best friends on FOX News, Bill O'Reilly and Shawn Hannity, he could be found watching baseball, the Mets, if they had a good record going. Wally was a member of the First Baptist Church, Boonville. Wally is survived by three daughters: Linda Sue (John) Hennessey, Boonville, Christine (Ivan) Crespo, Torrington, CT, and Eileen Celauro, Hillsdale, NJ; two sons; Edward Harry Berger (Denise), Wausau, WI, and Walter (Janet) Berger, Hillsdale, NJ; eleven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marge Larrivey and Jean (Harry) Capron, both of Boonville, two sisters-in-law, Janet Hoffman, Blauvelt, and Honey Flint, Franklin. Wally is also survived by his lifelong childhood friend John Post of Hillsdale, NJ. He was predeceased by a son Robert Berger. Keeping with Wally's wishes services will be held privately in the spring. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Boonville. Wally's family would like to thank the nursing staff of the Faxton-St. Luke's campus, as well as the hospice nursing staff for the compassionate care given to Wally. Arrangments are in care of the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler Street, Boonville.
