W. Cameron Kingsbury

Boonville - W. Cameron Kingsbury, 90, a long-time resident of East Road passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2009 at Sunset Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Boonville, where he had resided since 2006. Mr. Kingsbury was born in Boonville on May 27, 1918 to Clifford T. and Iris Lashuay Kingsbury. He graduated from Boonville High School in the Class of 1936, furthered his education for one year at Syracuse University, then attended the University of Maine where he earned a bachelors degree in forestry. He later he took several courses in banking. Mr. Kingsbury served for over three years in the U.S. Army during WWII and was stationed in London, England. While serving, he played trumpet in the Army Band. On July 6, 1943, Cameron was united in marriage with Victoria Zealey in London. Mr. Kingsbury had a long and distinguished career in banking. He was first employed at First National Bank of Boonville and at the time of the merger with Oneida National Bank & Trust Company he was on the Board of Directors and Executive Vice President and Cashier of the Boonville office. In May 1983 he retired from a banking career that had spanned thirty-six years. He was a life member of the First Baptist Church, Boonville, a former chairman of the trustees and Board of Deacons, a Sunday school teacher, and he had a lifetime affiliation with the church choir. Active in community affairs, he was a life member of Harland J. Hennessey Post VFW where he served as Quartermaster for over 14 years and a member of Charles J. Love Post American Legion, both of Boonville; Boonville Elks Lodge # 2158, and Boonville-Uriel Masonic Lodge #165 F&AM. He was a former member and treasurer of Adirondack Community Chorus, a former member and chairman of Boonville Municipal Commission; for many years he served on the Kortenaer Village Board (Housing Center) and the boards of Erwin Library and Boonville Cemetery. In addition to his wife, Victoria, he is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Ronald Sherwood of Boonville; one son and daughter-in-law, Lynn and Sandy Kingsbury of Greenfield, IN; one brother and sister-in-law, Keith and Bea Kingsbury of Warminster, PA; five grandchildren, Todd Sherwood and his wife, Karen, of Memphis, NY, Richard Sherwood and his wife, Erin, of Oswego, Chad Sherwood and his wife, Joanne, of Belchertown, MA, and Candi Einspahr and her husband, Cliff, and Scott Kingsbury and his wife, Jessica, all of Fishers, IN; nine great-grandchildren; Bradley Sherwood and his wife, Kaitlyn, Mathias Sherwood; twins, Olivia and Rachel Sherwood, Cordell Sherwood, Owen and Luke Sherwood, Lorelai Einspahr, and Janie Kingsbury; a great-great-granddaughter, Lillianna Sherwood; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister June Kingsbury Palmer. The family wishes to extend a sincere note of thanks to the entire staff of C Wing at Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center for their loving care of Cameron during his long illness. His funeral will be Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Boonville, where Pastor Joe Feller will officiate. Interment will be in Boonville Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday, 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc., 143 Schuyler Street, Boonville. Members of the Charles J. Love Post American Legion, Harland J. Hennessey Post VFW and the Tun Tavern Marine Corps League will call in a group at 7:15 p.m.; members of Boonville-Uriel Masonic Lodge #165 F&AM will meet in a group at the funeral home at 8:00 p.m. for a service. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church Window Restoration Fund or the Boonville Fire Co. Ambulance Fund.
