Floyd - Virginia E. Morey, 84, of Camroden Road passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2009, at the Siegenthaler Center in New Hartford after a long illness. Virginia was born in Canastota on April 19, 1925 to Paul and Katherine Popple Uhlig. She grew up in the Oneida area and received her education at Oneida and Holland Patent schools. Prior to retiring in 1985, Mrs. Morey was employed for several years as a therapy aide at Marcy State Hospital. She moved from Utica to Floyd in 1974. On October 31, 1974, Virginia was united in marriage to Edison K. Morey in Barneveld. Mr. Morey, a WWII veteran and retired construction worker, passed away on October 3, 2001. She was a member of Malsan-Jones Post 7393 VFW Ladies Auxiliary of New York Mills. Mrs. Morey is survived by four children, Ms. Diane Hurley of Floyd, Michael Hurley and his wife, Judy, and Patrick Hurley and his wife, Debra, all of Forestport, and Tammy Kotary and her husband, Barry, of Floyd; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; five brothers, Robert of NJ, Douglas of FL, Donald of SC, Frank of Morrisville, NY, and Kenneth of FL; two sisters, Nina Bealieu and her husband, Ross, of Sebring, FL, and Mary Parsons and her husband, Ronald, of Oneida. She was predeceased by two brothers, Clyde and Paul. Her family wishes to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to Drs. Desai and Butala, Windy and the staff at Mohawk Glen in Rome, Kathy Gray and Kathy Frank of Visiting Nurses Association, Mary Rose of Rome Hospital; and a special thanks to all of the people at Hospice Care and the Siegenthaler Center. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside funeral service on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Floyd Cemetery where the Reverend Sean Patrick Oï¿(TM)Brien will officiate. In keeping with her wishes, there will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 4277 Middle Settlement Road, New Hartford, NY 13413 or to the Floyd Fire Company.
