Violet E. Oaster

April 22, 1916 — January 28, 2007

Mrs. Violet (Frank) Oaster, 90, a long time resident of Academy St., passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2007, at Sunset Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Boonville, where she had resided since 2005. In 1969, Violet moved to Academy Street in Boonville, from State Rt. 46, at Dunn Brook, where she had lived for many years. She was born on April 22, 1916, in the Town of Western, a daughter of Joseph and Eliza Blum Frank. On February 1, 1940, Violet was united in marriage with Arnold A. Oaster in Rome, NY. Mr. Oaster a WW II veteran, and employee of Georgia Pacific Co. of McKeever, died on June 13, 1963. Mrs. Oaster was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Faith. She is survived by one son and daughter in law; Richard and Linda Oaster, Utica, three grandchildren; Pennie Oaster, James Gorzalkowski, Lisa and husband Tom Gerace, all of Boonville, five great grandchildren, Michael Gerace, and his fianceeï¿(TM), Dena Ralph, Jessica Gerace, Tommy Gerace, Courtney Gorzalkowski, and Nick Gorzalkowski, and a great great granddaughter, Cadence Dunn, all of Boonville. Also, one brother, Joseph Frank, Utica, two sisters; Nancy Penturf, Syracuse, Cora Gage, Rome, several nieces and nephews, and a special niece, Mrs. Frank (Janet) Hamlett, Utica, and special friends, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hughes, Boonville. Violet was predeceased by her daughter, Joan Oaster in September, 2006, by three sisters; Hattie Krist, Iva Capron, Edna Secor, and by a brother John Frank. Her family extends their heart felt thank you, and deep appreciation, especially to the staff of A-Wing, and to all at Sunset Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their kindness and compassion towards their mother and grandmother, Violet. Her Funeral Services will be Wednesday at 10:00 A.M. at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc., 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, where Pastor Edgerton, of the 7th Day Adventist Church will officiate. Interment will be in Boonville Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday, 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sunset Nursing Home Resident Activities Fund, 232 Academy St. Boonville, NY 13309, or to Boonville Fire Co. Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box 164, Boonville, NY 13309.
