Vincent L. '"Vince"' Fey

Boonville - Vincent L. "Vince" Fey, 91, of Aubrey Avenue and more recently a resident of Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Boonville, passed away at the nursing home on Sunday, January 11, 2009. He was born on the Osceola Road in the Town of Lewis on July 20, 1917, to Lewis C. and Crencia Gassner Fey. He attended West Leyden School and then worked on his parent's farm. For several years he operated his own log trucking business and was also employed by Law Brothers Construction Co. From 1951-1966 he was employed by Joseph E. Cormier in the logging business, and from 1968 until his retirement in 1986, Mr. Fey was employed as a heavy equipment operator by the Town of Boonville Highway Department. For several years after his retirement he drove bus for Coleman Bros. Shows, transporting a group of truck drivers from Boonville to locations throughout New York State to drive the carnival trucks to the next fairgrounds on the carnival route. On February 25, 1941, Mr. Fey was united in marriage with Marjorie Thomas at the Church of the Visitation in Norfolk, NY. In 1942 the couple moved to Aubrey Avenue. Mrs. Fey died on July 26, 2007. Mr. Fey was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Boonville. Vince greatly enjoyed a good cup of coffee and conversation. He could often be seen at Slim's Restaurant or at Freddy's Diner with his coffee friends. He is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Anthony and Maude Fey, Liverpool, and Dale and Debra Fey and Robert Fey, all of Rome; a daughter and son-in-law, Judith and Louis Lee, Chittenango; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; a sister, Olga Fey Kelley, Reading, PA; four sisters-in-law, Margo Fey, Syracuse, Angela Fey, Liverpool, and Lillian Brothers and Charlotte Thomas, both of Winthrop, NY; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by two brothers, Urban and Raymond, both in 2003. Vince leaves behind many special friends, especially Gary Roy, Dorothy Ingersoll, Bonnie Snyder, Joe Earl and Kathy Hardy. His family wishes to extend a sincere note of thanks and appreciation to the staff of Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center for their kind and compassionate care given to Vince. His funeral services will be Saturday at 9:15 a.m. from the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc., 143 Schuyler Street and at 10:00 a.m. from St. Joseph's Church, 110 Charles Street, both in Boonville, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Spring interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Boonville. Calling hours are Friday 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Church, 110 Charles Street, Boonville, or to the Boonville Fire Co. Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box 64, Boonville, NY 13309.
