Constableville-Verna M. (Dale) Sullivan, 85, of West Road, widow of Edward F. passed away on Wednesday, September 12, 2012, at her residence while surrounded by the loving care of her family, and Lewis Co. Hospice. She was born in Boonville, on November 7, 1926, a daughter of William O. and Leona Palmer Dale. Verna grew up in Boonville on Feeder St. in what was then known as "Coney Island." She graduated from Boonville High School with the Class of 1944, and thereafter until 1947, she was employed as a clerk and typist at Rome Air Depot. On September 28, 1946, Verna was united in marriage with Edward Fintan Sullivan, at St. Joseph's Church, Boonville, with Rev. Robert Driscoll officiating. This was a marriage that endured just short of sixty one years. After their marriage the couple lived in Talcottville until 1971, when they moved to their present home. Mr. Sullivan who was a retiree of Georgia Pacific Paper Co. of Lyons Falls, died on September 21, 2007. Mrs. Sullivan was a member of St. Mary's Church, Constableville, and while living in Talcottville, she attended St. Joseph's Church in Boonville. She was a member of St. Mary's and St. Joseph's Altar and Rosary Societies, and while attending St. Joseph's Church, she was an advisor to the Catholic Youth Organization for a period of five years. In addition to the great joy Verna received from raising her family, her grandchildren, and great grandchildren, she greatly enjoyed raising flowers, and was especially noted for her beautiful rose gardens. She loved to cook and bake, and collect snow globes. For many years Verna received a special joy from her six "Foster Priests," that she adopted many years ago. These priests are serving in Catholic Churches overseas. Verna, is survived by two daughters and a son in law, Judy Warfel, Scottsville, VA., Betsy Baker and Randy, Binghamton; three sons, and a daughter in law, Michael J. Sullivan and Katrina, Constableville, Christopher J. Sullivan and Mark A. Sullivan, both Constableville; ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Edward W. on February 11, 2010, a son in law, Bill Warfel, two brothers, Raleigh Dale and Eugene Dale, and by a sister, Erva Reed. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary's Church, Constableville, with Rev. Lawrence Marullo, as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Constableville. Calling hours are Friday 2-4 & 7-9 at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville.
