Travis C. Ernst

Lee Center- Travis C. “The Bix” Ernst, 58, husband of Jaime, passed away from an unexpected accident, on Friday, March 3, 2023.

Affectionately known as “The Bix,” Travis was born in Rome, on May 1, 1964, a son of Wallace C. “Wally” and Hannah Lauber Ernst. He grew up in the hamlet of West Leyden, where he attended school, later graduating from Adirondack High School, Boonville, with The Class of 1982. Following high school, he received a degree in welding.

For thirty plus years, he was employed as a heavy equipment operator and mechanic for Marcy Excavation Co., Herkimer. During his career Travis was a four-time recipient of Employee of the Year Award from Macy Excavation Co., with the most recent award being on February 27, 2023.

On May 2, 1992, Travis was united in marriage with Jaime M. Reichhuber in Rome.

Travis greatly cherished time spent with his family, playing Pitch with loved ones, and the affection of his German Shepard canine friends, Max and Luna and feline friend, Ozzy. He also greatly enjoyed his tool collection and attending auctions and buying and selling various items.

In addition to his wife, Jaime, Travis is survived by his two daughters, Naline J. Ernst, Cheyenne Swisher and wife, Abby Swisher; two sisters, Cindy (Lance) Youngs and their family Holly (Rod) Mathis and their family, one brother, Randy Ernst and his family; an aunt, Arlene Ernst and a large extended family. Travis predeceased by his father, Wally, in 2007 and his mother, Hannah, in 2021.

Relatives and friends are invited to visitation hours on Friday, March 10, 2023, from 2-8 P.M., at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville. Other services will be private. Interment will be private in the spring in West Leyden Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lee Center Volunteer Fire Department, 5643 Stokes Lee Center Road, Lee Center, NY 13363, or to the Lee Center American Legion, 9025 Veteran’s Memorial Highway, Lee Center, NY 13363.
