Thomas Alton Flansburg, 76, of Constableville, NY and Zephyrhills, FL passed away on Sunday February 16th, 2020 with his loving wife at his side. Tom was born in Lowville NY on June 22nd, 1943 to Deforest A. and Jane Jackson Flansburg. On June 15th, 1968 Tom was united in marriage to Patricia Ann Earl at St. Mary's Church in Constableville, NY with the Rev. Robert Cotter officiating. Afterwards the couple made their home on John Street where they raised their family and made many happy memories. Tom and Pat were married for over 51 years, a beautiful and special union, together they took great pride in the fact that in all of those years, they never once had an argument, and when you asked, they would both advise other couples in love to just listen to each other and talk things out. Tom graduated from Constableville High School on June 22, 1962. In 1964, he bought a Harley Davidson and drove across the country to Fort Carson, CO where he resided with his oldest brother Deforest (Jr.) and wife Rita, with their family. There, Tom worked in home construction. Upon returning to NY, Tom and his brothers founded Flansburg Brothers Logging, which operated for 14 years. Tom then began his career as a Heavy Equipment Operator, known best for his work on a Bulldozer. Tom was precise in his work, and he did not leave any job until he made certain that everything he did was pure perfection. He leaves behind many wonderful co-workers that he met over his 40 year career, and was surely welcomed home by those that had passed before him. Tom operated a CAT dozer his entire career for Gallo Brothers Construction, Boonville, NY, Rifenburg Construction, Troy, NY and Marcy Excavation, Frankfort, NY. After his retirement in 2005 Tom and Pat purchased their second home in Zephyrhills where they made many great friends and enjoyed spending many winter seasons together. On February 20th, 2011 Tom's ultimate dream was answered and he was able to attend the Daytona 500 with his special nephew Russell, a memory which he held dear. Every spring upon his return to Tug Hill, Tom was back on the Dozer with a smile, working for many years with Charlie, for Humphrey Excavation in Constableville. Thomas is survived by his loving wife Patricia, and his children Dale (DeAnna) of Boonville, NY. , Tracy (Sammy) Gallup of Battle Mountain, NV, and his beloved fur baby, Megan. Also surviving are Tom's Grandchildren, Jack (Justus) Underwood and their children Talon and Autumn Belle of Holland Patent, NY, Sabrina Underwood and her significant other, Joshua Sciortino of Marcy, NY and Corey Flansburg of Boonville, NY. Tom is also survived by his brother Duane (Eileen) Flansburg of Camden, NY, sisters Wanetta Norton and Jeanette Colasanti of Utica, NY, sisters in law Belinda Flansburg and Eva Altrock, and many nieces and nephews. Tom was predeceased by his parents Jane and Deforest, his mother and father-in-law, Rose and Allen Earl, three brothers; Deforest (Rita), Gerald, and James (Coleene), as well as his son-in-law Jon Underwood. Tom took pride in his gardens, and also enjoyed hunting, fishing and cutting firewood. Tom's wife, Patricia and family are planning a Celebration of his life, at their residence on John St. Constableville, on Saturday, September 5, 2020, from 1:00 P.M. on, where facial coverings are required. Please attend and have a story to share about Tom. Memorial contributions may be made to Constableville Fire and Ambulance Fund P.O. Box 438, Constableville, NY 13325.
