Timothy M. Griffin, 66, of State Rt. 12, husband of Patricia L, passed away on Monday, June 10, 2013, at the Syracuse Veteran's Administration Medical Center, after a brief illness. Tim was born in Utica, on September 21, 1946, a son of Donald and Betty McKelvey Griffin. He grew up in Utica, later moving to Boonville, with his family, where he graduated from Boonville Central School, with the Class of 1965, before he attended a dental technology trade school in Milwaukee, WI. From January, 1967, until his honorable discharge, in 1970, Mr. Griffin served his country in Viet Nam, during the Viet Nam War. On October 31, 1970, Timothy was united in marriage with Patricia L. Van Luven, at the Boonville United Methodist Church. After their marriage the couple lived in New Hartford, before moving to Ford St. in Boonville, where they lived until relocating to their present home in the later 1980's. For several years, he was employed for Utica Dental Lab; in 1984, Mr. Griffin established Boonville Appliance Repair Center, which he operated for many years until becoming disabled. Tim was a good and honest man, who greatly and sincerely cherished his many customers. If Tim could not fix an electrical appliance, "it simply could not be fixed." He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, repairing guns and working on his Corvette. He was a member of Charles J. Love Post American Legion # 406, Harland J. Hennessey Post VFW, both of Boonville. In addition to his wife, Patricia, he is survived by one daughter, Colleen M. (Michael T.) Backer, one son, Donald K. (Robin) Griffin, all of Boonville and seven grandchildren, Lucas, Nicholas, Audrianna, Dustin, Jalessa, Jacob and Gabriel, and one great grandson Aiden. At the present time, Tim was joyfully anticipating the birth of his second great grandchild. Also surviving is one sister, Janette M. Croniser, Boonville; and one brother, Scott (Amy) Griffin, Alder Creek; an uncle, Kenneth Griffin, Frankfort, and nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his best friend in the world, his canine friend Gretchen.
