Boonville- Tillie F. (Paluck) Czajka, 92, a WWII Veteran, widow of John E. and a former resident of Solvay, NY, passed away on Friday, September 12, 2014, at Sunset Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Boonville, while surrounded by the loving care of her family. She was born in Turin, on April 1, 1922, a daughter of Anthony and Mary Kolasoe Paluck. Tillie grew up in Turin, and attended school in Constableville, and was later employed at the Monroe Co. Boonville. On April 29, 1944, Mrs. Czajka enlisted in the U.S. Army as a member of the Women's Army Corp, and was assigned to the Army Motor Pool at Camp Shanks, a section of New York Port of Embarkation, Army Service Forces. She was honorably discharged at Ft. Dix, NJ on March 20, 1946, with the rank of PFC. She received the American Service Medal, WW II Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. After serving her country, Mrs. Czajka attended Beaux Art School of Beauty Culture and was employed at General Electric at Electronics Park, Syracuse. She was also employed at Bristol Lab of Syracuse and at Syracuse Stamping Co. On July 12, 1952, Tillie was united in marriage with John E. Czajka, at St. Joseph's Church, Boonville. After their marriage the couple moved to Syracuse, and then to Solvay, where they lived for many years. Mr. Czajka, a WWII, European Theater Army Veteran and retiree from Crucible Steel Co. Solvay, died on August 19, 2002; afterwards Mrs. Czajka continued to live in Solvay, until 2012, when she returned to Boonville, making her home with her son and daughter in law, Richard and Laura Czajka, of Boonville, until entering the nursing home in 2013. While living in Syracuse, Mrs. Czajka was a member and attended St. Cecilia's Church, Solvay, and she had attended St. Joseph's Church, Boonville. She was a member of Charles J. Love Post # 406, American Legion, Boonville, and the Union I.C.U. Fleet Workers, Syracuse, and a former member of Harland J. Hennessey Post VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Boonville. Tillie enjoyed gardening, raising flowers and vegetables, and she had a green thumb with raising indoor plants. She also enjoyed canning and freezing the bounty of her gardens. She is survived by a son and daughter in law, Richard and Laura Czajka, Boonville; her grandson, Corby Czajka, Cibolo, TX, granddaughter, Melissa and Michael Pietraszewski, North Bethesda, MD, grandson, Adam Czajka, Boonville, and two great grandchildren, Brandan Czajka, Boonville, and Riley Czajka, Cibolo, TX; one brother, Isadore (Lillian) Paluck, Constableville; one sister, Estella Paluck Kowalik, Otter Lake, and a sister in law, Mary Paluck, Constableville, and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Joseph and Edward Paluck, and by sisters, Rose Karpinski and Helen Wood. A prayer service will be Friday at 10:15 AM at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11:00 A.M. at St. Joseph's Church, Boonville, where Rev. Fr. Donald H. Karlen, retired pastor of Christ Our Hope Catholic Parish officiating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Boonville, with Military Rites from Charles J. Love Post American Legion, Harland J. Hennessey Post V.F.W. and the Tun Tavern Marine Corps League, all of Boonville. Calling hours are Thursday 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
