Port Leyden- Thomas B. Stanley, 58, of Moose River Road, husband of Kim, passed away suddenly at Lewis Co. General Hospital, Lowville, on Friday, December 14, 2012. He was born in Herkimer, on April 27, 1954, a son of Jerome and Ruth May Oviatt Stanley. Tom grew up in Port Leyden, where he spent the rest of his life, attending Port Leyden School and graduating from South Lewis Senior High School, with the Class of 1972. After that he was employed for Ken Slieter in the landscape division of Port Florist, before nearly thirty years of employment at Boonville Division of Ethan Allen Furniture, retiring in 2002 due to disability. On April 27, 1979, Tom was united in marriage with Kim Thayer, at St. Joseph's Church, Boonville; several years ago the couple moved to their present home on Moose River Road. Tom had attended St. Martin's Church, Port Leyden. He was a member of Moose River Fish & Game Club, Lyonsdale and a former member of Boonville Rod & Gun Club. He was a Buffalo Bills Fan and a NASCAR Fan. Tom greatly loved his children and spending time with his grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Kim, Tom is survived two daughters and sons in law, Heather (Frederick) McCauley, Port Leyden, Heidi (Jon) Hill, Prospect; one son and daughter in law, Christopher (LeAnna) Stanley, Old Forge; his six beloved grandchildren, Elizabeth Wood, Kylie McCauley, Alysha and Allan Hill, Gaige and Garrett Stanley and his brothers and sisters; Carolyn Graves and Earl, NC, Diana Cox and Samuel, VA, Ruth Schoff, West Leyden, Shawn Davies, Cold Brook, Dorothea Stanley, Carthage, Robin Jantzi and Wayne, Boonville, Lillian Fazekas and William, TN, Tammy Stowell and Shane, Lowville, Kim Moran and Dale, Newport, Melissa Holton and Dale, Carthage, Jerome Stanley and Kathy, Watertown, Steven Stanley and Janet, VA, Lewis, Port Leyden, Kenneth, Naumburg, Terry and Lisa, Mohawk, Arthur and Penny, Ilion and James and Brenda, Carthage. He was predeceased by his parents and a brother James. Also surviving are special friends, Kenny and Debbie and Joshua Platt. Services will be Monday at 9:00 A.M. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St., and at 10:00 A.M. at St. Joseph's Church, both Boonville, where Rev. Sean P. O'Brien, pastor will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment in the spring will be in Calvary Cemetery, Port Leyden. Calling hours are Sunday 1-3 P.M. and 5-7 P.M. at the funeral home.
