Boonville- T. Paul Woolschlager, 93, a longtime resident of Post St., husband of Jean, passed away on Thursday, March 18, 2021 at Sunset Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Boonville, exactly two years after his wife, Jean passed away. Paul had resided at the nursing home since February 22, 2021. Paul was born in Croghan on November 30, 1927, a son of Theodore "Ted" and Katherine Rohr Woolschlager. His first three years were lived in northern Wisconsin, moving to Boonville, with his family, in 1930. He graduated from Boonville Central High School, with the Class of 1945, and from Oswego State Teachers College with the Class of 1949, before earning an MA in education from Syracuse University in 1956. On November 19, 1949, Paul was united in marriage with Jean Jackson, at Trinity Episcopal Church, Boonville; this was a loving union which endured for 69 years until Jean passed away on March 18. 2019. In September, 1951, Mr. Woolschlager, enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving his country during the Korean Conflict era, while stationed stateside and in the 6th Weather Squadron, as a weatherman, for one year, in Cold Bay, Alaska. This Air Force weather station was at the end of the Alaskan Peninsula, about 600 miles south west of Anchorage, where the Aleutian Islands begin. Mr. Woolschlager was honorably discharged with the rank of Airman 1st Class, in September, 1955. Mr. Woolschlager enjoyed a long and varied teaching career, during which time he taught at Lowville Academy, Sandy Creek, Pulaski, Boonville Central School, Forestport Central School, West Leyden Central School, and Remsen Central School, before retiring in 1983 from Adirondack Central School District, Boonville. Paul was a member of First Baptist Church, Boonville, where he served as church treasurer and deacon. He was also a member of Charles J. Love Post # 406, American Legion, Boonville, Masonic Lodge of Boonville, for over 50 years he was board member and past president of Boonville Cemetery. He was a former member of Boonville Fire Department, and served for 41 years on the National Ski Patrol at Snow Ridge Ski Area, Turin. For many years Paul served on the NYS Woodsmen's Field Days committee, the Boonville - Oneida Co. Fair Association committee, the Boonville Village Planning Board and Paul was an Eagle Scout member of Boy Scout Troop # 13, Boonville. For many years Paul and Jean volunteered to be on the staff of the American Red Cross Blood drives in Boonville and they also served for many years on the Boonville Election Board, working at the general elections and school board and budget elections. For many years the couple enjoyed wintering in Ellington Fla, and lived in Boonville during the summer. Paul is survived by one son and daughter in law, Gary (Donna) Woolschlager, Cicero and one daughter and son in law, Beverly (Mike) Napierkowski, Boonville. He was predeceased by a daughter, Patricia Weiler, on October 10, 2020. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Adrian (Amy) Weiler, Angela (Mike) Cihocki. all of Boonville, Jessica (Richard) Sommers, Rome; great grandchildren, Robert and Mia Weiler, Emma and Olivia Kittleman, Luke Cihocki and John Sommers. Also surviving is a brother, Hawley (Laurie) Woolschlager, Wenatchee, State of Washington, and their children. Funeral Services will be on Tuesday, March 23, 2021, at 11:00 A.M. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, where Rev. Joseph Fellar, of The First Baptist Church. Boonville, will officiate. Relatives and friends are invited at attend graveside services at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, May 17, 2021, at Boonville Cemetery, where members of Charles J. Love Post American Legion # 406, Harland J. Hennessey Post V.F.W. and Tun Tavern Marine Corps League will confer Military Rites. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Boonville Memorial Fund, or to the American Diabetes Association 110 Lomond Court, Utica, NY 13502 or to The Boonville Fire Company Ambulance Fund, P.O. box 264, Boonville, NY 13309.
