Susan (Gaetano) Schweinsberg, 63, of Academy St. wife of Richard, passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2011, at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, after a long illness. Sue was born in Rome, on March 10, 1948, a daughter of Felix L. (Phil) and Jeanne LaQuay Gaetano. She grew up in Boonville, and during her childhood she spent much time with her aunts and uncles, Thelma and Byron Kent, and Marion and William Cannon. She graduated from Boonville Central School with the Class of 1966. On June 10, 1967, Susan was united in marriage with PFC Richard A. Schweinsberg, at the First Presbyterian Church, Boonville. After their marriage they lived in Colorado, where Rick was serving in the US Army; later when her husband served in Viet Nam, she resided in Boonville. After that the couple lived near Paul Smith's College, where Mr. Schweinsburg was studying forestry, and later the couple lived in Dolgeville, and Connecticut, where he was employed in the lumber industry. In 1985, she enrolled in Mohawk Valley Community College, from which she received her Registered Nurse Degree. After that Sue had a long and distinguished career as a supervisor nurse, and then as Director of In Service Training, both at Sunset Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Boonville, retiring due to disability. Sue was active in doing volunteer work for many years, and she served on the Board of Directors of the Dodge Pratt Northam Arm and Community Center, Boonville. From Aug. 1996, until Aug. of 2000, Sue and Rick lived in Haiti, where they served as volunteers at World Harvest for Christ. Sue was the Medical Director at the New Life Children's Home Orphanage. In addition to her husband, Rick, she is survived by two sons, Todd M. and companion Bernadette, Rome, and Justin "Judd" and wife, Heather, Brantingham; three grandchildren, Caryn, Carson, and Briar; three brothers, Philip (Skip) and wife, Michelle "Micky" Gaetano, Boonville, Steven C. Gaetano, and companion, JoAnn, Turin, Eric J. (Rick) Gaetano, and companion, Phyllis, Boonville; three sisters, Gayle Westervelt and husband, Terry, Cobelskill, Patricia Wendt and her husband, David, Constableville, and Heidi Vernold, Rome; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and cousins. Her Funeral will be on Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, where Pastor Joe Feller, of the First Baptist Church of Boonville, will officiate. Interment will be in Boonville Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
