Holland Patent- Stephanie Marie (Koscinski) Tomasik, 94, of Holland Patent, a former resident of Fox Rd., Marcy, and widow of Henry J., passed away at her residence on Friday, September 26, 2014, while surrounded by the loving care of her family and hospice. She was born in Utica, on February 23, 1920, a daughter of Benjamin and Victoria Wyskiel Koscinski. Stephanie grew up in Utica, where she received her education at Edward Bagg and Kernan Schools. On September 30, 1939, Stephanie was united in marriage with Henry J. Tomasik, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Utica. In 1952, the couple moved to Fox Road, Marcy, where they lived for many years. Mr. Tomasik, a retiree of Utica Cutlery Co. died on November 20, 1971. In 1972, Mrs. Tomasik began employment in the food service department at Marcy State Psychiatric Center, retiring in 1983. Since March, 2009, Stephanie had resided with her son, Walter and daughter in law, Jo Ann, in Holland Patent. Stephanie could well be described as a lady who lovingly and unselfishly cared for and served others. She served as a volunteer at the Foothills Rural Community Ministry, where she was chairperson of the thrift shop until 2002. For many years she was employed as a care giver for the elderly in the Marcy area, and served as a volunteer at Eden Park Nursing Home, Utica, from 1989-2007. In later years she greatly enjoyed attending the Ava Dorfman Adult Day Care of Rome, where she was affectionately known as "Mayor," a title that she earned through the care and attention that she visited upon everyone at the center. Mrs. Tomasik was a member of St. Leo's - St. Ann's Church, Holland Patent, and St. Leo's - St. Ann's Altar & Rosary Society, and a former member of Up & Lively Senior Citizens, Floyd and Singing Hills Senior Citizens of Prospect. She sang in the choir at St. Leo's for many years and also sang with the North Country Singers. Stephanie loved and cherished her six sons and daughters; Raymond Henry (Mary), Douglasville, GA, Walter Joseph (Jo Ann), Holland Patent, Stephan Michael (Nancy), Westerlo; Joyce Nola (William) Hoffman, Cedar City, UT, Helen Louise (Ralph) Hoffman, Syracuse and Nancy Carol (Richard) Adams, Jensen Beach, FL and Marcy, 27 grandchildren and 46 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren; and two brothers, Joseph, Clinton and Henry, Utica and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Stanley, Walter, Leo, and John, and by sisters, Helen Handzel, Sophie Sulkowski, Jessie Morrissey, Jennie DeNigro and Victoria Fish. Her Funeral service will be Thursday October 2 at 11:00 A.M. at Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams and Edmonds Funeral Home, 40 Main St. Whitesboro, with interment to follow in Holland Patent Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday 3 p. m. to 7 p.m. and Thursday 9 a.m. until the funeral.
