Floyd- Stanley L. Koziarz, 93, of Smith Road, husband of Clarice, passed away at his residence, on Friday, July 15, 2022, while under the care of his family and hospice. Stanley was born on April 12, 1929, near Boonville, on the Koziarz homestead farm, a son of Antoni and Marja Burszta Koziarz. He grew up on his family’s farm, near the Pixley section of State Rt. 46 and received his education at Boonville Central School. On November 7, 1959, Stanley was united in marriage with Clarice Smith, at Westernville Presbyterian Church. Thereafter the couple settled on the Smith farm on Smith Road where they have since lived. Eventually Stanley and Clarice assumed the operations of the Koziarz Dairy Farm. Mr. Koziarz was also a self-employed contractor who was very skilled at operating heavy equipment, especially bulldozing and operating a backhoe. As a hardworking and generous person, Stanley will be remembered as a person who often volunteered his equipment and services to assist fellow farmers who had suffered from fires or floods on their buildings or property. He also dug foundations for new homes, just because he could do the job. The perfect summation to how Stanley lived his life is: He greatly enjoyed helping people in general. Mr. Koziarz, was a longtime member of All Saints Polish National Catholic Church, Rome and also a longtime active member of the Floyd Fire Department. Stanley also possessed an interest in young people who were involved with agriculture and for many years he was a member of the FFA Alumni and the Agricultural Advisory Board, both at Holland Patent Central School. He enjoyed making maple syrup, hunting, fishing and moose hunting in Canada. After his retirement from farming, he and Clarice enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, Alaska, Hawaii and Canada. In addition to his wife, Clarice, Stanley is survived by a son, John S. Koziarz, Floyd; a daughter and son in law, Jean and Hobart Kraeger, Steuben, two grandchildren, Margaret Kraeger, Poland and Walter Kraeger, Steuben and one great grandchild, Seth Kraeger. The last of his family, Stanley was predeceased by brothers, Walter, Edward and Chester and one sister, Helen Kwasniewski. Visitation hours will be on Saturday, July 23, 2022, from 10:00 A.M. until 12 Noon, at the Nunn & Harper Funeral Home, Inc. 418 North George St. Rome, where a funeral service will begin at 12 Noon, also on Saturday. Interment will follow in Wright Settlement Cemetery, Rome. Memorial contributions may be made to the Floyd Fire Department, 8367 Old Floyd Road, Rome, NY 13440.
