Lyons Falls - Stanley C. "Bear" Shue, 80, a native and life-long resident of Lyons Falls, passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2009, at Lewis County Extended Care Facility in Lowville after a long illness. He was born on October 5, 1928, to Ronald and Ethel Barnes Shue. He attended Lyons Falls High School. Mr. Shue was employed as a steam plant engineer, first for Gould Paper Company, then for Georgia Pacific Paper Company, from where he retired after forty-two year of service. Both businesses were located in Lyons Falls. On October 27, 1956, Stanley was united in marriage with Eleanor Effley at St. John's Church, Lyons Falls. He was a member of St. John's Church, Lyons Falls, the Lyons Falls Fire Department, Moose River Fish and Game Club, and the Matewan Hunting Club. In addition to his wife, Mr. Shue is survived by one sister, Elizabeth Thorpe, and one niece, Deborah McClenaghan, both of Rochester. In keeping with his wishes there will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held in the spring at the convenience of the family in Calvary Cemetery, Port Leyden. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Church, Lyons Falls.
