Verona Beach - Shirley J. Walsh, 85, formerly of Constableville, widow of Daniel J., passed away on Monday, April 18, 2022 at Oneida City Hospital, Oneida. Shirley was born on August 27, 1936 in Buhl, Idaho, a daughter of Isaac L. and Mabel G. Emery Edmons. On December 12, 1964, Shirley was united in marriage with Daniel J. Walsh at Church, in Artesia, CA. Besides her role as a loving mother and homemaker, Shirley assisted her husband in the operation of the Hotel Parquet, Constableville, NY. The couple moved to Verona Beach in retirement, where they lived for the last twenty years. Shirley enjoyed family gatherings, spending time with her dog Smugly, organic gardening, sewing, and had a love of learning, continuing her education taking internet classes. Shirley is survived by her daughters: Donna (John) Sportelli, Liverpool, Evelyn (Philip) Wicks, Georgia, and one son Daniel Jr. (Lori) Walsh, Constableville; grandchildren: Dustin (Jessica), Brandon (Lauren), Deana, Christopher, Erin, Michael, Daniel (Mika), Gregory (Brooke), Kelsey (Alan), and Kayley, and 8 great-grandchildren. She's also survived by her brother A. Benton Edmons, Ohio, and sisters: Rosalee Walker, Kansas, and Sharon Edmons, California, and sister- in-law Pat Carrier, New York. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 43 years Daniel J. Walsh on October 22, 2008, her son David Walsh in October 2021, a granddaughter Brianna Walsh, sister Judy Gullet, brothers Richard and Ronald Edmons, and sister-in-law Kathy Smith. Calling hours will be held on May 6 from 11am to 1pm at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, where funeral services will begin at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow in Martinsburg Cemetery, Martinsburg. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the family would be greatly appreciated to help with memorial expenses (Donna Sportelli, 4050 Pawnee Drive Liverpool, NY 13090). A Celebration of Life will take place after the burial at the Port Leyden Fire Department. Food donations can be dropped off any time after 12:30pm.
