Shirley (Rogers) Sipley, 84, of New Floyd Road, widow of Jackson, passed away on Tuesday, September 18, 2007, at the Eastern Star Nursing Home in Oriskany. She was born in the Town of Western, on July 19, 1923, a daughter of Harold and Marie J. Long Rogers. Shirley grew up in the Town of Western, where she attended a rural school, and then she graduated from Holland Patent High School. After that she attended nursing school, where she earned her Licensed Practical Nurse Degree. For several years she was employed as an LPN at the Bethany House of Rome. On August 22, 1942, Shirley was united in marriage with Jackson M. Sipley in Oriskany. Mr. Sipley, who raised Tennesee Walking Horses on his farm, died on September 2, 1972. Shirley was very devoted to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She is survived by one brother, Stephen Rogers, Floyd, one sister, Louise M. Jones, New Carlisle, Ohio, and by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, June Rogers in January, 1996. Her Funeral will be Saturday, at 2:00 P.M. at Prince Boyd & Hyatt Home For Funerals, Inc., 210 West Court St. Rome, where Rev. Saied Adour, pastor of will officiate. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Town of Lee. Calling hours are Saturday from 1-2 P.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
