Shane Damon Earl, age 51, passed away on October 14, 2019, at Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC, after a long battle with cancer. Shane was born on February 21, 1968, in Utica, NY, to Stephen Charles and Sue Harriet (Donovan) Earl. He graduated from Town of Webb High School in 1987. He married Catherine Goldman (former spouse) on April 29, 2000 and together they had Tristan Owen Earl, who Shane cherished with all his heart. Shane was an active father who enjoyed attending and coaching his sons sporting events. Shane worked at Foleys Hardware Store and at McCauley Mt., in Old Forge, NY for many years, before moving to NC in 1998. Shane was employed at Code Electric, Inc. in NC and then at Wake County General Services Administration as a Senior Facility Technician. Shane was a hardworking, fun loving character always making you laugh. He loved fishing, camping and spending time with his family and friends. Shane is predeceased by his father, Stephen Earl, his stepfather, Michael Casey and his brother, Chad Casey and two step brothers, Steve and Bruce Casey. He is survived by his partner, Susan Scalco of over seven years and her two children, Julianna and Joe of Apex, NC, his mother, Sue Schweinsburg (Richard), Woodgate, his sister Brandie Comrie (Steve Makey) of Toledo, OH, his twin brother, Duke Earl (Christine) of Inlet, NY; sisters, Windy Kelley (Michael) of Thendara, NY, Marinda Earl (John) of Waynesville, MO and Kathy Parent (James), Fort Lupton, CO. Also, surviving are many Aunts, Uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and great nieces. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, October 26, 2019, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary of the Snows Church, State Rt. 28, Otter Lake, where Father Thomas A. Ward, pastor will officiate. A celebration of Shanes life will be at the White Otter Fish and Game Club in Woodgate, NY, immediately following. All are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the SPCA or an organization of your choice.
