~~Lyons Falls - Sandra J. Krokowski, 67, of Franklin St., passed away unexpectedly at her home on September, 14, 2017. Sandra was born on May 25, 1950 in Constableville, a daughter of Walter and Mildred L. Meiss Krokowski. She grew up on the West Road in Constableville, graduating from South Lewis Central School, with the Class of 1968. She then went on to attend SUNY Canton and St. Elizabeths College of Nursing. For many years she enjoyed waitressing at local restaurants including the Coachlight, Alpine, Brick Block, Turin Steakhouse, and Greystone Manor. For a time she was employed with Lewis County Opportunities, before her career as a social worker with Lewis County Dept. of Social Services, Lowville, where she retired as a supervisor in 2002. Sandi was a talented artist and enjoyed painting. She will fondly be remembered as a shopaholic, loved garage sales and QVC, and was known never to pass on a good sale. She was a very loving and kind person and was constantly giving to others in need. She was an active volunteer for the Office of the Aging at the Lyons Falls Meal Site at McManus Hotel; she was a member of the Forest Presbyterian Church, where she was a former Sunday school teacher, and also a member of the Turin United Methodist Church. For a time Sandi was a leader for the local girl scouts, and was currently a member of the Adirondack Scattered Red Hatters. Sandis grandchildren were her pride and joy; she cherished the time spent with them. She also loved her cats Trouble and Lullaby. For 41 years she shared her life with Allen Brown, Jr. Together the couple enjoyed many trips to Alaska to visit his parents. Mr. Brown passed away in December 14, 2014. She is survived by her daughter Amy (Fred) Anderson, Port Leyden, and their children Alyssa Krokowski and Ian Anderson; her son Allen Brown, III (Lori), Constableville, and their children Marissa and Meghan Brown; a great-granddaughter Aubrey Barker. Also surviving are her siblings Marcia (Carey) Koster, Lowville, Patricia (David) Wiedrick, Turin, Sue (David) Millard, Port Leyden, and John Fejko, Lowville; a sister-in-law Margaret Krokowski, Port Leyden, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and a brother Mark Krokowski. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at 1:00 pm at the Turin United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Turin Cemetery. Calling Hours will be held on Saturday from 2:00-6:00 pm at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lewis County Humane Society P.O. Box #682, Lowville, New York 13367, or to the American Diabetes Association, 110 Lomond Court, Utica, New York 13502.
