Port Leyden- Samuel F. "Sammy" Samson, 76, of James St., passed away after a brief illness, on Saturday, March 7, 2020, at Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Boonville. Affectionately known as "Sammy," he was born on July 9, 1943, at his family's homestead farm on Mohawk Hill, a son of Raymond and Lillian Kazek Samson. He received his education at Constableville Central School and thereafter was employed at the Samson family dairy farm for many years. Later he was employed for several years in the shipping department of Ethan Allen Furniture Co., Boonville, retiring several years ago. Sammy knew everyone and everyone knew him. He had a lot of close friends in Port Leyden; Josh Marmon and Marty and Charlene were always there for him. He is survived by one sister and brother in law, with whom he had resided for many years; Jean (Tom) Capron, Port Leyden and a brother and sister in law, Gerald (Corinne) Samson, Orlando, FL. He was pre-deceased by his parents and his brother who lived in Tampa, FL, James Samson. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and great great nieces and nephews. His family wishes to express their great thanks and appreciation to the staff of Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center and to the personnel of Lewis County Search and Rescue of Lowville. Services will be held Friday, June 19, at 1:00 pm at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Boonville. There are no calling hours. His arrangements are in care of Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville.
