Ruth W. Ritter

Ruth W. Ritter, 79, a long time resident of North Lake Road, widow of Ralph E., passed away at her home on Sunday, July 2, 2006, after a brief illness. Ruth was born in Columbus, Ohio, on January 9, 1927, a daughter of Stanley and Helen Burns Williams. As a child she moved to Cooperstown, where she graduated from high school. After that she graduated from Plattsburg State Teachers College. She was a home economics teacher at East Springfield, NY, (Otsego Co.,) and then at Forestport Central School. On December 27, 1950 Ruth was united in marriage to Ralph E. Ritter in Cooperstown. Mr. Ritter, a retiree from New York State Dept. of Transportation, died on January 3, 1995. She is survived by two sons and daughters in law; Gary B. Ritter, and Sandra, Whitesboro, Mark E. Ritter, and Mary, Forestport, three grandchildren; Aimee Ritter, Sarah Nichols, Michael Ritter, two great grandchildren; Alexander Nichols, Paul Nichols, a grandson in law; Brian Nichols, four step grandchildren; James Roberts, Elaine Ballard, Jennifer Harris, Harold Roberts, six step great grandchildren; Alexander Compton, Sarah Compton, Emilee Roberts, Kelsey Roberts, Evan Roberts, and Jack Ballard, one step sister; Ruth Mary Maddox, Cicero, NY., a brother in law, and a sister in law; Richard and Eileen Ritter, Florida. Ruth was predeceased by a step sister, Evelyn Pratt, and by a step brother, Charles Robinson. Ruth is also survived by three close friends; Jean Gleasman, Patricia Porter, and Rita Kopczenski. She was predeceased by a close friend; Bernice Peach, in 1994. Ruth and her family were very appreciative of the loving care and attention that her grandson Michael gave to Ruth during her later years. Her Funeral will be Friday at 11 A.M. at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, where Rev. Fr. Donald H. Karlen, Pastor of St. Patrickï¿(TM)s Church of Forestport will officate. Interment will be in Beechwood Cemetery, Forestport. In keeping with her wishes there are no public calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to Forestport Fire Fighters, or to Boonville Fire Co. Ambulance Fund.
