~~Lyons Falls - Ruth W. McDonald, 86, of Charlotte St., wife of Merwin, passed away in the comfort of her home on September 14, 2017, under the loving care of her family and hospice. Ruth was born in Ilion, NY, on March 16, 1931, a daughter of the late Richard and Winifred Mullaney Wynn. She graduated from Constableville High School, with the Class of 1948. On September 16, 1948, Ruth was united in marriage with Merwin McDonald and moved to Lyons Falls, where she lived for the rest of her life. Mrs. McDonald was a member of Forest Presbyterian Church, Lyons Falls. She was an accomplished seamstress and greatly enjoyed making outfits for her children and grandchildren. She and Merwin greatly enjoyed traveling and Ruth enjoyed participating on bowling teams. Fulfilling the role of wife, to her husband Merwin, and mother to her 8 children and grandmother and great grandmother to her grandchildren and great grandchildren brought Ruth her greatest sources of joy and pleasure. She loved the preparation and participation in family holidays and related activities. In addition to her husband, Merwin, of 69 years, Ruth is survived by her children and grandchildren; John and Katherine McDonald, Lyons Falls and grandson, Mark McDonald, Lyons Falls, granddaughter, Jennifer McDonald Slack and Andrew Slack, Charlottesville, VA; daughter, Michele McDonald Wiggins, Burke, NY; granddaughter, Beth A. Wiggins, Las Vegas, NV; Rob and Cindy McDonald Wendt, Constableville; granddaughter, Michele Wendt Milavec and Lucas, East Greenbush, NY, granddaughter, Lisa Wendt Carandang and Francis, Seattle, WA; Lorri McDonald Randall, Constableville, and granddaughter Ruthanne Randall, Turin, Jim McDonald, Lyons Falls, Tim McDonald, Turin; grandson Cody McDonald, Constableville and grandson, Tyler McDonald, Lyons Falls; and their youngest son, Doug McDonald, Remsen. Also surviving are her great grandchildren, Madison Ruth McDonald, Montague, Annika Faith Milavec, East Greenbush and Addison Anne Carandang, Seattle, WA; one sister, Mary Wynn Smith and by many nieces and nephews. Ruth was predeceased by a son, David Wynn McDonald, in 1971, by a grandson, Scott R. Wendt, in 1997 and by her brother in law, Francis Joe Smith, in 1996 and by two brothers in law, Edward McDonald, Robert McDonald and his wife, Mary Grace; and by a sister in law, Joyce McDonald Frank and her husband, William Frank. Ruth is also survived by two sisters in law, Judy McDonald Bowerman and her husband, Ron and Jo Ellen McDonald Wolf, and her husband, Bruce. A Memorial Service will be held this Saturday, September 16, 2017, at 2:00 P.M. at Forest Presbyterian Church, Lyons Falls, with interment in Wildwood Cemetery, Lyons Falls. There are no calling hours; however, a receiving line and luncheon will follow the service at the church.
