West Leyden - Ruth I. Beha, 70, a former resident of the Mud Lake Road, and more recently of Beaver Falls and Lowville, passed away on Tuesday, October 14, 2008, at the Lewis County Skilled Nursing Facility in Lowville, where she had been a resident since July 2000. Miss Beha had been afflicted with Down Syndrome since birth. She was born in Boonville on May 16, 1938, a daughter of the late William J. and Irene Geiskopf Beha. Ruth grew up in West Leyden, where she lived with her parents until November of 1986, when she entered the care of the Rome Developmental System and was placed in caregivers homes. She attended the Lewis County A.R.C. School in Turin. Miss Beha was a member of St. Mary's Church, West Leyden. She is survived by a brother, Charles E. Beha, West Leyden; a sister, Marjorie Lopez, Westport, NY; a sister-in-law, Betty Beha, Parishville, NY, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, George, a brother-in- law, Robert Lopez, and by an uncle, Frederick G. Geiskopf. Ruth's family wishes to express their heart felt appreciation and thanks to the nurses and staff of the 4th floor of the Lewis County Extended Care Facility for the kind, compassionate care they rendered to Ruth. Her Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary's Church, West Leyden, with Rev. Lawrence Marullo, as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, West Leyden. Calling hours are Friday 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc., 143 Schuyler St. Boonville.
