Ruth H. (Hoch) Lindsay, 99, of Middle Branch Road, widow of Joseph E., passed away on Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at St. Luke's Memorial Hospital, New Hartford. Prior to entering the hospital, Mrs. Lindsay was a resident at Sunset Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Boonville. Ruth was born in Rochester, NY, on August 10, 1912, a daughter of Paul and Emma Ortman Hoch. She grew up in Old Forge, where she completed her education at Town of Webb High School. On June 26, 1932, Ruth was united in marriage with Joseph E. Lindsay, and after that the couple lived in Old Forge. Mr. Lindsay, an Adirondack Logger and area golf course constructor, died on January 20, 1991. For many years Mrs. Lindsay was employed as a telephone operator at General Telephone Co. of Old Forge. Later she was employed for 25 years as a clerk at George's Liquor Store, Old Forge. Mrs. Lindsay was a member of St. Bartholomew's Church, Old Forge, the Old Forge Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and she greatly enjoyed knitting and crocheting. Ruth is survived by two daughters, Judy (John) Chapman, Rocksprings, WY and Myrna L. Hall, (Wilfred Hall, deceased,) Old Forge; seven grandchildren, Joan Tormey and husband, Tony, Susan Beckingham, Scott L. Hall and friend, Kimberly, Dale Anne Jones and husband, Peter, Beth Chapman Smith and husband, Fred, Jenifer Lloyd and husband, Michael, David Chapman and wife, Cheryl, twelve great grandchildren, Karl Tormey and wife, Nia, Jeffery Beckingham and wife, Tara, Shane Beckingham and friend, Jenifer, Whitney Beckingham and friend, David, Audrey, Lydia and Allison Jones, Maura, Asnica and Woody Lloyd, Blake Chapman and Lindsay Chapman, three great great grandchildren, Cole Tormey, Austin Beckingham and Devin DeRosia. A prayer service will be Thursday, June 7, at 9:15 at Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams and Edmunds Funeral Home 128 Fern Ave. Old Forge, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated 10:00 A.M. at St. Bartholomew's Church, Old Forge. Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery, Old Forge. Calling hours are Wednesday 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to The Old Forge Fire Dept. P.O.
