Ruth E. Cooper, 89, a former resident of Moose River Road, Town of Lyonsdale, and more recently of Kortenaer Village in Boonville, passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2006, at Sunset Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Boonville, where she had resided since 2003. Ruth was born in Phoenix Mills, (Otsego Co.) on January 6, 1917, a daughter of Charles and Nellie Dodge Huestis. She grew up in Otsego Co., and graduated from Hartwick High School with the Class of 1937. On February 29, 1948, Ruth was united in marriage with William H. Cooper in Clinton, NY. After their marriage the couple settled in Evans Mills, living there until moving to the Moose River Road where she lived for many years. Mrs. Cooper was employed at the Veneer Mill at McKeever, and for Lally Mfg. Co. Port Leyden. Mrs. Cooper was an avid outdoors women, and for many years she kept books for her husband, William, who was a conservation officer. Mr. Cooper died on February 1, 1974. For several years she was a frequent volunteer at Sunset Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Boonville, and for three years she had made her home with her daughter Rosamond in Homer, NY. She attended the Boonville United Methodist Church, and was a member of Young at Heart Senior Citizens of Boonville, and the Harland J. Hennessey Post V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary of Boonville. Mrs. Cooper is survived by two sons and daughters in law: Nelson C. and Patsy Bowen, Boonville, Roscoe W. and Vernita Bowen, Black River, one daugher and son in law; Rosamond B. and Robert DeVoe, Homer, many grandchildren, and great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter, and one sister; Amelia Fuller, Hartwick, NY. She was predeceased by two brothers; Charles J. Huestis, and Stanley Huestis. Her Funeral will be Thursday at 1:30 P.M. at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc., 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, where Rev. William A. Mudge, pastor of the Boonville United Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will follow in Boonville Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday 3-5 & 7-9 P.M. at the funeral home.
