Town of Greig- Roy E. Aden, 78, of River Road, husband of Sandra, passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2024, while surrounded by the loving care of his wife and family.
A lifelong resident of the Town of Greig, Roy was born in the hamlet of Collinsville, on October 23, 1945, a son of Anthony Aden and Flora Tuttle. He grew up and lived for the rest of his life, on the River Road, Town of Greig. Roy received his education at General Martin School, Glenfield and after that he was employed for many years on The Harold Allen Farm Lyons Falls.
In the early 1970’s Mr. Aden began his logging business and in 1984, he and his brother Robert formed a partnership of Aden Logging LLC, of Greig, harvesting timber over a wide area of north central New York. At the present time Roy was involved in the logging business, along with his brother, Robert, Roy, Jr. and his son, Steven.
On March 30, 1968, Roy was united in marriage with Sandra J. Gydesen, at Forest Presbyterian Church, Lyons Falls. This year, the couple celebrated 56 years of a loving union.
Mr. Aden was a member of Forest Presbyterian Church, Lyons Falls. He was a fan of John Deere antique tractors and enjoyed participating in antique tractor pulls, around New York state and locally at the Boonville Oneida County Fair and at the Fly Wheels & Pulleys Show in Constableville and he greatly enjoyed attending the Woodsmen’s Field Days in Boonville.
In addition to his wife, Sandy, Roy is survived by a son and daughter in law, Roy, Jr. and Vicky, Greig; a daughter and son in law, Donna and Michael Skorupa, Lyons Falls; a son and daughter in law, Peter Aden and San, Town of Schuyler, NY; grandchildren, Steven Aden, Jessica Aden, Jaquelyn Skorupa and fiancé Kayden, Matthew Skorupa and his wife, Abby, Thomas Aden, Sie Sie, Lucy Wah, Lillian Aden, Joanna Aden and a great grandson Tate Carpenter; a brother, Robert (Jackie) Aden, Greig and a sister Alice Baslow, Greig. He was predeceased by a sister, Ann Young.
His funeral will be on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at 4:00 P.M. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, where calling hours are also Wednesday from 2-4 P.M. Following the services, all are invited to attend a celebration of Roy’s life, at the Glenfield Fire Company Hall, Blue St. Glenfield.
