Constableville - Ronald W. Myers, 78, of Adam Road, passed away on Tuesday, May 11, 2010, at his residence while surrounded by the love and care of his family and Lewis County Hospice. A native and lifelong resident of the Constableville area, he was born on September 8, 1931, the son of Clarence W. and Freida (Kohli) Myers. Ronald attended Mohawk Hill Rural School before graduating from the Constableville High School with the Class of 1949. Ronald enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in August 1951 and served during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged in August 1955. After returning to the Constableville area, he married Marlene M. DeForest on May 28, 1960 at St. Mary's Church, Constableville. The couple moved to their present home near Constableville. Mrs. Myers died on November 24, 2009. In 1951, Mr. Myers began his long career of employment for General Telephone Co., Continental Phone Co., and later the ConTel Telephone Co., all of Boonville. For several years he was a lineman, retiring eventually in 1987 as an outdoor telephone infrastructure engineer. Ronald was a member of St. Mary's Church, Constableville, and a fifty-five year member of Constableville Fire Co. He enjoyed operating his small dairy and beef cow farm, raising vegetables, cutting wood, hunting and fishing. For many years Mr. Myers greatly enjoyed placing American flags on veteran's graves for Memorial Day in local cemeteries. He is survived by three daughters, Linda Galarneau and her husband, Brian of Turin, Karen Myers and her companion, Mike Belmont of Boonville, and Ava Myers and her companion, Chris Burmingham of Turin; three sons, Peter and his wife, Rita of Bridgeport, Jeffry of Constableville, and John and his wife, Michelle of Hastings; nine grandchildren; one great-grandson; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Mookie. A prayer service will be held at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc., 143 Schuyler Street, Boonville, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Constableville, celebrated by the Rev'd Lawrence Marullo. Interment with military honors will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Mohawk Hill. Calling hours are Friday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
