Boonville - Ronald D. Traxel, 73, of Echo Lake Road, passed away in the comfort of his home on Monday, January 18, 2021 while under the loving care of his wife Faith, and family. Ronald was born on February 26, 1947 in Deland, Florida a son of Glenn and Emily Millen Traxel. He returned to New York at a young age receiving his education at area schools, graduating from South Lewis Senior High School, with the Class of 1965. Ronald began working in the tractor and farm implement repair business working first for Cogar Farm Equipment in Lyons Falls, before his work for Charlie Brown at Brown's Tractor and Equipment, Boonville. In 1996, Ronald began his own business, Traxel's Tractor Repair, located outside Boonville, a business which he operated to present day. His reputation for extensive knowledge of the trade preceded him and he was well known throughout the central and northern NY. Ronald was married to Faith Woolshlager on January 25, 1985 at Forest Presbyterian Church, Lyons Falls. Ronald was an avid snowmobiler, enjoyed cutting and splitting firewood, and cherished the time spent at his camp in Highmarket with friends and family. Besides his wife Faith, he is survived by his daughters: Bethany (Bradley) Evans, Boonville, and Debbie (John) Smith, Lyons Falls; grandchildren: Taylor (Conner) Cavanaugh, Boonville, Todd Evans, Boonville, John Tyler Smith and his fiance Shayna Will, Frankfort, Justin Smith and his fiance Jenna Rogers, Utica; great-grandchildren: Levi Maverick Cavanaugh and Piper Lee Evans; his sister Carol Traxel Marks, Lecanto, FL, niece Carie (Scott) Summers, nephew Wyatt ( Julie) Marks, his Aunt Barbara Traxel, Boonville, sisters-in-law: Lucy Woolshlager (Joe Rubini), Parks City, Utah, Rosalie Woolshlager, Salt Lake City, Utah, several cousins, nieces, nephews and many many special friends including Mack Ingersoll and Dennis Fruin. He was predeceased by his parents, father and mother-in-law: Dick and Ruth Woolshlager, brothers-in-law: Walter Marks and John Woolshlager, an Uncle Charles Traxel, and his beloved Aunt Ruth Traxel. Relatvies and friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Saturday, June 5, 2021, at 10:00 A.M. at Boonville Cemetery, followed by a celebration of Ron's life on Saturday afternoon, June 5, 2021, at the Traxel residence on Echo Lake Road, Boonville. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc., Boonville. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Boonville Fire Co. Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box #164, Boonville, NY 13309.
