Ron graduated with the Boonville High School Class of 1965. He then entered the Utica State Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1968 with his Registered Nursing Degree. On February 18, 1969, Ronald enlisted in the U.S. Army, and served as a 1st lieutenant in the Army Nurse Corps in Vietnam, stationed at the 93rd Evac Hospital in Long-Binh. Upon his return home, Ron was employed with the Mohawk Valley Psychiatric Center, Utica, before he transferred to the Central New York Psychiatric Center in Marcy, from which he retired in 2000 due to illness. On September 14, 1968, Ron was united in marriage with Carol Simpson at the Boonville First Baptist Church. After the couple's marriage they moved into their current home near Alder Creek, where they raised their family.
