Robert Vincent Halpin Jr, 60, of Utica, NY passed away October 29th, 2019, at St. Elizabeths Hospital after a brief illness. He was surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born on May 10, 1959 in Utica, NY, a son of the late Robert Halpin Sr. and Elizabeth Connelly. He grew up in Remsen, NY and graduated from Remsen Central School with the class of 1977. He was united in marriage to his first true love, Amy Steigerwald on May 30, 1981. Bob served in the Air Force. He was also employed for several years at Sanders in NH. Bob found friendship and love with Ann Marleau who he married July 30th, 2011. Bob was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying trapping, hunting and fishing. He found his greatest peace at his fathers hunting camp in Forestport, always with a book in his hand, as he had a fond love of literature. Later in life Bob threw himself into a collegiate education, graduating with high honors from Utica College. He used that degree to help people in need battling from substance abuse. He had a passion for baking and his family and friends always looked forward to his creations at the holidays. Bob is survived by his mother Elizabeth Connelly; two sons and daughters in-law, Robert III and Michelle Halpin, Benjamin and Alyssa Halpin; three stepchildren Lauren, Chris and Sean Marleau; two brothers and sisiters in-law, Joseph and Meg Halpin, Tim and Karen Halpin; two sisters and brothers in-law, Tami and Les Shaler, Jill and Jerry Smith; three grandsons Kasey Halpin, Braden and Carson Halpin. Bob was predeceased by his father Robert Halpin Sr. There will be a Celebration of Life Saturday November 2nd, 2019 beginning at 1:00 pm at the Tavern on the Gorge in Prospect, NY. Anyone who knew Bob would know that this is the only way he would want to be remembered. Arrangements have been entrusted to Trainor Funeral Home in Boonville. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Central New York Veterans Outreach Center, 726 Washington St. Utica, NY 13502.
