West Leyden- Robert (Bobby) T. Aldrich, 58, of West Leyden, New York passed away on January 16th, 2021. He was born in Syracuse, New York on November 8th, 1962. He retired as a Master Mechanic from Revere Copper Products, Inc after 24 years. He was a jack of all trades; always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He loved sharing his knowledge with others and aspired to be like his Uncle Duane, a mentor in every sense of the word. He was successful too, with many calling him "Uncle Bob" within the first few hours of meeting him. Bobby loved music. He was first on the dance floor with his smooth moves, and last to leave begging the band for one more song. He loved many genres of music, but Jim Croce was the one that spoke right to his heart; he could be found gently rocking to sleep his children, nieces and nephews, and eventually grandchildren to the soft melody of "Operator". Not only could he dance, but he could sing. Given the chance, he wouldn't be afraid to take the mic and sarande the crowd with a soulful rendition of Garth Brooks, or even a duet with his wife to a John Prine or Johnny Cash classic. Bobby was an avid outdoorsman and referred to the outdoors as his "church". After 45 years of hunting in New York State, he had harvested many trophy bucks but his proudest moment was during the 2019 season. He shot an eight-point, scoring a 135. He also took many hunting trips out of state with his brother Norm. His Butterfield Lake cottage was his place of true happiness. You could often find him on the lake with a boat full of people fishing, tubing, or taking "hot laps". Sitting around a table full of family and friends, playing cards and listening to Bob Segar and other favorite artists filled his heart with joy. He had a love for the finer things in life: good food, a nice glass of wine and a good tune. In addition to his wife, Ingrid Aldrich, Bobby is survived by his father, Raymond Aldrich; two brothers, Raymond (Ellen) Aldrich II, Jamesville, Todd Aldrich, Jamesville; a sister, Tammi (Jerry) O'Brien, Adams Center; three children, Amanda Aldrich, Rome, Shannon (Travis) Harper, Naples, FL and Robert Aldrich Jr., Naples, FL; his step-children, Aaron (Kolene) Ettinger, Sydnie Ettinger and Chloe Ettinger, all of West Leyden. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and grandchildren that he loved dearly. He is reunited with his mother Gloria Collins, brother Timmy Aldrich, sister-in-law Maria Fey, uncle Duane Campbell, niece Amie Aldrich, and others he has loved and lost. Calling hours will be held on Monday, January 25, 2021 from 2pm - 6pm at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143Schuyler St. Boonville, NY. Donations may be made to the West Leyden Fire Department P.O. Box 205, West Leyden, NY 13489.
