Boonville- Robert S. Kirk, 77, of Old Hawkinsville Road, husband of Beverly, passed away at his residence on Thursday, February 2, 2017. Affectionately known as "Sonny," he was born at the Kirk homestead on Old Hawkinsville Road, near Boonville, on February 2, 1940, a son of Stanley and Dorothy Koster Kirk. Sonny grew up in Boonville receiving his education at Boonville Central School. For a time he also lived in Talcottville. For 45 years Mr. Kirk was employed as an amusement machine mechanic for the late Carl G. "Pat" Marcy, in the operation of Marcy Amusements of Boonville. Mr. Kirk was a gifted mechanic, who was able to repair all kinds of electrical appliances and motors. Sonny loved gardening; raising vegetables and flowers, and cutting and splitting firewood. He was also very gifted and restoring all kinds of furniture. Sonny greatly enjoyed being industrious and doing favors for others. On February 1, 1982, he was united in marriage with Beverly Nail, in Boonville. This was a loving union which endured for thirty five years. In addition to his wife, Beverly, Sonny is survived by two daughters, Susan and Melinda, both of Amsterdam, NY; step children, George (Amy) Hutchins, Waterville, Robert (Kim) Hutchins, and Heidi Sinclair, all of Boonville; grandchildren, Hunter, Jesse, Ashley, Shawn Hutchins, (Jennifer Korman, Marih Higby), Justine Hutchins, Matthew Sinclair, Shelby Hutchins and Justin Sinclair; one sister, Shirley (John) Rowsam, Lowville; one brother, Karl Kirk, Talcottville. He was predeceased by a brother, Charles. Sonny's Funeral will be Tuesday at 4:00 P.M. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, where calling hours will be Tuesday from 1 P.M. until the funeral.
