Boonville- Robert P. Miller, 92, a longtime resident of Miller Road, husband of Gertrude and a dairy farmer, passed away while surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, December 27, 2020, at Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Boonville, where he had resided since October, 2020. Affectionately known as Bob, he was born in Utica, on December 17, 1928, a son of Harry H. and Margaret Anna Miller. He grew up in the Boonville area, where he completed his education. In the later 1940's Robert was employed in logging for the Failing Brothers; in the early 1950's he was employed on the Floyd DeVoe farm, Town of Leyden. On January 30, 1954, Robert was united in marriage with Gertrude H. DeVoe, at the Boonville Methodist Church. Thereafter the couple purchased the former Casbaker Dairy Farm on the Miller road and together the couple operated this farm for 50 years. Following Mr. Miller's retiring the farm was operated by his son, James and his presently operated by James and Bob's grandson, Nick. Throughout his retirement years, Robert remained active in the farm operation; in June of 2020, he drove the tractor for harvesting hay. Mrs. Miller passed away on July 30, 2004. Mr. Miller was a life member of Boonville Elks Lodge # 2158, the Lost Trails Snowmobile Club and Oneida County Cooperative Extension. He greatly enjoyed riding and raising horses, snowmobiling, hunting, fishing, 4 wheeler riding, music, including playing the guitar and singing and having family baseball games on summer evenings after the farm chores were finished. He also enjoyed attending the Boonville Fair and Woodsmen's Field Days. Bob is survived by three sons; John E. Boonville, Robert J. Syracuse, James C. (Randy), Boonville; two daughters and sons in law; Joan M.( Richard) Zimmer and Teresa A. (Keith) Mooney, all of Boonville, seven grandchildren; Brian Seelman, Bonnie Flansburg, Jessica Wildey, Justin Mooney, Chelsea Hoffert Mallory Miller and Nicholas Miller; five great grandchildren; Elijah Flansburg, Jonah Flansburg, Brayden Poste, Dalton Seelman and Jakob Wildey. At the present time, Robert was joyfully anticipating the birth of his 6th great grandchild. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews and a sister in law, Lula Delarm, Sylvan Beach. He was predeceased by brothers, Beila Smith, Everett Miller, Kenneth and Harry Miller. Bob's family extends a note of thanks and sincere appreciation to the staff of Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center for the loving care which they extended to Bob. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Friday, May 14, 2021, at 12 Noon, at Boonville Cemetery.
