Robert A. 'Bob' Sullivan

July 19, 1951 — September 20, 2008

Constableville - Robert A. Sullivan, 57, of West Main St., husband of Patricia, passed away on Saturday, September 20, 2008, at his residence where he was surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Sullivan had been ill with pancreatic cancer. He was born in Constableville on July 19, 1951, a son of Loren H. and Shirley Weber Sullivan. Bob grew up on his family's farm in Port Leyden, and completed his education through twelfth grade at South Lewis Senior High School. Robert and his wife, Patricia, purchased the former Weiman dairy farm on West Main Street in 1973 which they were currently operating. For many years he was in a partnership with Bill Cavanaugh in the operation of B&B Saw Mill and Logging Co. of Constableville, where Mr. Sullivan was employed as a sawyer and logger. On September 22, 1973, Robert was united in marriage with Patricia D. Cavanaugh at St. Mary's Church, Constableville, a union of thirty five years of love, devotion, hard work and happiness in jointly operating their farm and raising their family. Robert greatly loved his family, operating his farm, hunting, and spending time at the family camp in Highmarket. He was an active member of the Constableville Volunteer Fire Dept. for twenty eight years, and a member of St. Patrick's Church Restoration Society. For over thirty five years he served faithfully as caretaker of St. Mary's and St. Patrick's Cemeteries in Constableville, a service done jointly in earlier years with his father-in-law, Bill Cavanaugh. Bob will be fondly remembered for his great attitude of leaving his own tasks to help others in their time of need. In addition to his wife, Patricia, he is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Reid Covey, Constableville; two sons, Chad and Robert Sullivan, both at home; his cherished grandson, Warren; three brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Ellen Sullivan, Port Leyden, Patrick and Kathy Sullivan, Constableville, and Paul and Lorraine Sullivan, Port Leyden; five sisters and four brothers-in-law, Katrina and Arthur Brownell, Boonville, Sidnee and Louie Holland, Port Leyden, Alicia and Lewis Arthur, Lyons Falls, Hope and Patrick Croniser, Port Leyden, and Faith Sullivan and Adrian Stinebrickner, Constableville; his father, Loren, Port Leyden; his mother-in-law, Laura Cavanaugh, Constableville; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was pre-deceased by his mother, Shirley and by his father-in-law, William "Bill" Cavanaugh, both in 1994. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Thursday at 11:00 A.M. at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Constableville, where his uncle, Pastor Robert Stoudt, pastor of the Christian Fellowship Church of Lyons Falls will officiate. In keeping with his wishes there will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to Constableville Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 438, Constableville, NY 13325, or to St. Patrick's Church of Highmarket Restoration Fund, 5754 West Main St. Constableville, NY.
