Lowville- Richard John Kotary, 89, a long time resident of South State St., husband of Mary Evelyn Cormier Kotary, passed away on Sunday, May 11, 2008, at his residence while under the loving care of his family, and Lewis Co. Hospice. A native of the hamlet of Fish Creek, in the Town of Lewis, he was born on January 6, 1919, a son of the late Benjamin and Theresa Nellenback Kotary. During his long working career he was employed for Spargo Wire Co. of Rome, Borden's Coffee Plant, Georgia Pacific Paper Co., Lyons Falls, McKeever Paper Mill, Bossarts of Utica, in the manufacture of knives and forks, AMF Co. of Lowville, and lastly at Kraft Foods of Lowville. At various times he was also employed in logging, and for a time he owned his own logging equipment. For several years he was self employed over a wide area as a painter and carpenter, and also in the maintenance of Adirondack Club Buildings. In addition to his wife, Evelyn, he is survived by two daughters: Mary Christine Kotary Fey, and husband, Jerry, Buda, TX. Rosemarie Kotary, San Antonio, TX. He was predeceased by a son Timothy John Kotary in 1998, and by his wife, Tina, in 2000. Also surviving are six grandchildren. He was the last of his family of brothers and sisters. His Funeral will be Wednesday at 9:00 A.M. at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc., 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, and at 10:00 A.M. at St. Martin's Church, Port Leyden, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Port Leyden. Calling hours are Tuesday 5-8 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Friends of Lewis Co. Hospice, Inc. P.O.
