Constableville- Richard H. Sweeney, 75, of John St., husband of Judith, passed away peacefully at his residence on Monday, November 23, 2020. Richard was born in Boonville, on February 10, 1945, a son of Charles H. and Sophie Rudnik Sweeney. He grew up in the Gouldtown section, Town of Lyonsdale, where he attended Gouldtown School, before graduating from Port Leyden Central School, with the Class of 1963. While in high school Richard excelled at playing baseball and was employed at Sweeney Lumber Co. Lyons Falls. From 1965, until 1992, Mr. Sweeney was employed as a carpenter for Law Brothers Contracting Corp. of Lyons Falls. Later he was employed in maintenance at Snow Ridge Ski Area, Turin. On June 5, 1987, Richard was united in marriage with Judith E. Redmond, at Turin United Methodist Church. Thereafter the couple lived in Lyons Falls, before moving to their present home near Constableville, in 1998. Richard greatly enjoyed hunting and fishing on Tug Hill. He was a member of the Moose River Fish & Game Club and the Sweeney Hunting Club. In addition to his wife, Judith, Richard is survived by two daughters, Bethany A. (Bradley) Evans, Boonville, Debra L. (John) Smith, Lyons Falls; four grandchildren, Taylor (Conner) Cavanaugh, Boonville, Todd A. Evans, Boonville, John Tyler "JT' Smith, Frankfort, Justin D. Smith, Utica; two beautiful great grandchildren, Levi Cavanaugh and Piper Evans and one brother and sister in law, David (Donna) Sweeney, Forestport; one sister in law, Carol Ann Sperry, New York Mills and nieces and nephew. Also surviving his a beloved cat, Lacy. He was predeceased by his parents and a brother Donald. In keeping with his wishes, there will be no calling hours or services.
