Richard E. Hance

Boonville- Richard E. Hance, 68, of Woodgate Drive, husband of Renita, passed away peacefully at his residence on Friday, October 16, 2020. Richard was born in Port Leyden, on February 26, 1952, a son of Frederick and Helen Corbo Hance. He grew up on the Moose River Road, near Port Leyden, attended Port Leyden Elementary School and South Lewis Senior High School, Turin, before graduating from West Canada Valley High School, Middleville. On June 8, 1974, Richard was united in marriage with Renita G. Webster, at St. Mary's Church, Constableville. Afterwards the couple lived in Texas for several years, returning to the Boonville area in 1986, where they have since lived. For many years, Mr. Hance was employed as a truck driver for Mohawk Valley Oil Co. Boonville and for Halpin Fuel Service, Forestport. After retiring from Halpin's, he was employed part time at the Boonville Village Transfer Site on Rt. 12, retiring in September of this year. Mr. Hance was a member of Abundant Life Fellowship Church, Boonville. He greatly enjoyed spending time with his family and fishing, hunting and picking blackberries. Richard found much joy in sharing his blackberry pickings with his grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Renita, Richard is survived by three daughters, April L. Hance, Inlet, Elizabeth J. Hance, Utica, Sarah R. (William) Slivinski, Boonville. He was predeceased by a son, Richard E. Jr., in 1976. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Hanah, Andrew, Ryan and Michael; two sisters, Linda Kleingardner, Florida and Pamela (James) Mccauley, Port Leyden. He was predeceased by sisters, Phyllis, Alice, Carol, Mary and Wanda. A graveside service will be at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, October 23, 2020, at Port Leyden Cemetery, where Pastor Daniel Tabolt, of the Abundant Life Fellowship Church, Boonville, will officiate. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to Boonville Fire Company Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box 164, Boonville, NY 13309.
