Port Leyden - Richard Bolich, 74, husband of Joan, affectionately known as Dick, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, Utica. Richard was born on October 8, 1940 in Boonville, a son of Thomas and Ruth Belknap Bolich. He was raised in Boonville, graduating with the Class of 1959 from Boonville High School. Dick's passion in life was driving tractor trailers. He was employed for several local trucking companies before opening his own business in Port Leyden, Black River Truck and Tire, with his son Joseph. They worked together for twenty three years, until Dick's retirement. On November 19, 1960, Richard was united in marriage to Joan Gleasman, at the First Baptist Church, Boonville. Following their marriage the couple lived in Boonville before purchasing a home in Port Leyden. Together the couple built a log cabin on the Davis Bridge Road outside Port Leyden. Dick took great pride in the home they built, and they have resided there for the past twenty years. Dick found great joy in his horses. He was a participant in draft horse pulls with his team of Belgians, John and Jake, at the Boonville-Oneida County Fair and the New York State Woodsmen's Field Days. He also enjoyed taking his granddaughters to 4-H horse shows. Richard is survived by his wife Joan, a daughter Michelle (Mark) McIntyre; a son Joseph Bolich (Judith Johnson) and her son Bailey; a daughter Linda (James) Weiss, Magnolia, DE; grandchildren: Nicole (Henry) Walseman, Ryan (Erica) McIntyre, Amanda Bolich, Cory (Kayla) Grenier, and Dane (Jennifer) Grenier; four great-grandchildren and step-grandchildren. Dick is also survived by two brothers, David, San Francisco, CA, and Michael, and two sisters Sue Quan and Lou Ann Johnson, all of Pheonix, AZ. He was predeceased by his brother Billy Bolich. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, September 18, 2015 at 12:00 Noon at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville. Interment will follow in Port Leyden Cemetery.
